Empowering self-expression and dignity through free clothing access.

Attire for Change provides free, affirming, and seasonally appropriate clothing to community members in need. Whether individuals are seeking professional attire, gender-affirming clothing, or everyday wear, our community closet is a judgment-free space where everyone can find what they need. We offer both in-person browsing at our Brighton-based closet and pop-up community closet events across Boston, ensuring accessibility for those who may not be able to travel. Volunteers assist with sorting donations, organizing events, and creating a welcoming environment for all who visit.

Attire for Change

Essential support, tailored to individual needs.

Packs is our personalized care package program, offering essentials such as hygiene products, shelf-stable food, weather-appropriate clothing, and other requested necessities. We assemble and distribute these care packages locally and internationally, ensuring that those facing economic hardship, displacement, or crisis situations receive the support they need. Each package is customized based on recipient needs, whether for houseless individuals, LGBTQ+ youth, or families experiencing instability.

Upcoming Programs & Initiatives

HELP Unbanned

Access to knowledge, one book at a time.

.

Launching in 2025, this program will distribute books that have been banned or challenged in the U.S., prioritizing access for youth and young adults. Each month, participants will receive a book from our curated selection, with discussion groups and workshops providing space to engage with its themes. Events will be hosted at various Boston Public Library locations, with limited book shipments available for those outside the city. A ‘Sponsor a Banned Book’ option will allow community members to support the initiative by donating books to others.

Prosperity in Connection – Community Wellness Series

Healing through connection, conversation, and care.

Prosperity in Connection is a wellness-focused series designed to foster collective healing and well-being within LGBTQIA2S+ and BIPOC communities. Each session offers accessible, culturally competent resources on mental health, self-care, and resilience-building, facilitated by community leaders and wellness practitioners. Topics range from mindfulness and stress management to navigating trauma and systemic oppression. Through workshops, discussions, and interactive activities, this series provides a supportive space for individuals to connect, share, and thrive together.

Strengthening Our Roots – Cultural & Generational Community Initiatives

Strengthening Our Roots is a collection of initiatives aimed at preserving and uplifting the stories, wisdom, and contributions of LGBTQIA2S+ and BIPOC communities. This includes intergenerational storytelling projects, mentorship programs, and events that celebrate cultural resilience. By creating spaces for dialogue and collaboration between elders, youth, and advocates, we ensure that histories are remembered, voices are amplified, and communities remain empowered to shape their own futures.

Sessions will include hands-on paperwork assistance, notary services, and resources for financial aid. Our goal is to make legal transitions more accessible and ensure trans individuals have the knowledge and support they need.

Sunflower Beautification Project

Growing resilience, one bloom at a time.

Through the Sunflower Beautification Project, we aim to transform public spaces in Boston’s priority neighborhoods by planting sunflowers and other beneficial plants. This initiative fosters environmental conservation, community engagement, and green space accessibility. Families, youth, and volunteers will work together to cultivate these spaces, making them places of pride and renewal for all.
